Home energy efficiency rebates

Currently there are a number of local and federal incentives to reduce the cost of making your home more energy efficient.

Federal Incentive: 30% of cost up to $1,500

Good until: 12/31/2010

Eligible products include: Building Insulation, Windows, Furnaces , Boilers, Heat pumps, Central Air conditioners, Doors, Roofs, Water Heaters.  Equipment must be new and comply with all performance and safety standards set in the tax code.  Incentives are subject to change.

In 2009, Form 5695 was the Federal form for Residential Energy Credits.


Your local utility company may also provide incentives for energy efficiency.  Here are a few that provide incentives and rebates in Southern California.

San Diego Gas & Electric- SDG&E's new 2010 Home Energy-Efficiency Rebate Program** provides home owners with mail-in rebates that are typically processed in 6 - 8 weeks.  Make sure to save receipts for work completed! 

Rebates for: Attic Insulation, Wall Insulation, Gas or Electric Water Heaters, Whole House Fan, Energy Star Furnace, Energy Star Dishwashers, Energy Star Air Conditioners, Energy Star Refrigerator, Pool Pump and Motor.  2010 SDG&E Home Energy-Efficiency Rebates Program Guidelines and rebate form.
